Chuen-cheh Shen, 83, from Sayville, NY, passed away on September 23, 2023. He is survived by his son, Willy, and his daughter, Christine and son-in-law Benedict Urmaza, two grandchildren, Alexander and Grace Serafinn Urmaza, and his sister Yu-Zhan Shen and six brothers Chun-Xi Shen, Chun-Min Shen, Chun-Liang Shen, Chun-Wen Shen, Kuan Shen, and Cheng Shen, and many nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his wife, Ling, and his parents, Jin Shui Shen and Xiu Jin Chang. Chuen-cheh came to the United States to study biochemistry, obtaining his masters degree at University of New Mexico and his PhD at Auburn University. His research career at the University of South Alabama spanned over 30 years, focusing on critical research of cancer and Alzheimer's disease.  In addition to his research, he helped his wife with running several successful Chinese restaurants. He enjoyed photography, birdwatching, and gardening in his spare time. He self-taught himself piano and was an avid karaoke singer whenever the opportunity arose. His travels took him throughout Europe and many of the fifty USA states, with Alaska being his favorite state to visit.  His cheerfulness, generosity and good humor will be missed dearly.

A celebration of Chuen-cheh's life was held on September 28, 2023 with a private funeral afterwards.
