Alfredo Augusto Cardenas Negron, 51, of Brentwood/ Bay Shore, Long Island, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in West Islip, LI on August 30, 2024.

Born in Lima, Peru, Alfredo was the beloved son of Augusto Cardenas and Delfina Negron. He was a child of God, heavily believing in Catholicism. Alfredo spent most of his early life back in Peru. He was a member of his school's band, playingpercussion. As he got older, Alfredo became one of the Cargadores that would help carry a huge float bearing the image of the Senor de los Milagros (the Lord of Miracles). He served as a bodyguard for local events and concerts during his early adulthood before leaving to America.

After moving to the U.S., he pursued a career in interior construction. Devoted to his work,Alfredo spent over 20 years perfecting his craft, ultimately becoming one of the best at what he did—his precision and quality unmatched. Many people admired his work and respected him for the man he was. He worked by his friends' side for many years, later on teaching the craft to his eldest son. Theyworked together later on in his son's adolescence.

Outside of his career, Alfredo would spend time at home with his wife and kids. He had a huge passion for cooking and would share his compassion with his family, cooking for them whenever he got the chance. Throughout his career, he would also be invited to the Peru to the World Expo where he would travel and share the signature dish that he was known for: los tamales Peruanos (Peruvian tamales).These tamales were known as a "never miss" disharound the holidays-everyone loved them.

He was known as the biggest music enjoyer, constantly blasting music wherever he went—in his car, while at work, even at home. Having experience in playing percussion during his teenaged years, Alfredo would grab his cajon (a box shaped percussion instrument) and play along with the drum parts of the music he'd play. He would later on inspire his eldest daughter in playing the drums, her being a member of her school's band for years as a result.

Being diagnosed with kidney disease for almost 14 years at 37, Alfredo had to put a lot of limitations towards his life and his health. But that didn't stop him from continuing his life as normal and doing the things he loved.

Alfredo was a well-known man of many talents and that ultimately shaped him as the person he was. There was never a quiet, dull moment with Alfredo--his loud, echoing laughter and jokeryguaranteed that. He was very social, making friends wherever he went.

Alfredo is survived by his beloved wife, Dilian Morales, and his loving children Alfredo, Carrie, Joseph, Kiara, and Ashton Cardenas. Alfredo left a long, loving impact on those who knew him. He was described as strong and tough on the outside, kind-hearted on the inside. He cared more for his family than his own illness, striving for the great or good. He will be loved and missed by all those who knew him. May he rest in peace.
