Albert Nicholas Argis died peacefully in his sleep in St. James, NY on Monday, June 16, 2025. He was 88 years old – the son of Alexandra Florkiewicz Argyrakis and Peter Argyrakis. He went to catholic school and grew up in homes in Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan and Queens (Corona and Astoria) and eventually became a snowbird going between Long Island and Florida for many years. His first job was working as a printer for a Greek newspaper in Manhattan. He eventually joined the Department of Sanitation for NYC and ended his career as a foreman. He was known for his unique sense of humor, his athletism and his generous heart. Albert had a way about him that was all his own. He was known as Albert, Al, Albie, Uncle Um and Uncle Al the kiddie's pal. As a young man, Albert learned how to swim at the Y, boxed with the Golden Gloves in Manhattan and played stickball. In his adult years, he enjoyed reading novels (especially Vince Flynn), dancing (especially the lindy and salsa), playing tennis, paddleball and pool. He is survived by Rose Stroface – his love of 27 years, his daughters, Emily (John) and Kristen (Lawrence), their mother JoAnn, 5 grandsons, his sisters Josephine O'Grady and Antoinette Cirincioni, numerous nephews and nieces and his amazing 8" x 10" diving board photo.
