Obituary for David Morgan

David Wayne Morgan, known to many as Dave, has departed this world. His time on this earth, though brief, was filled with an abundance of passion, love, and hard work. On May 12th, 2023, Dave’s heart beat its final rhythm in West Islip, New York, leaving behind memories that will echo for eternity.

Born on March 29th, 1985, in Syosset, New York, Dave was a jack of all trades, a true Renaissance man. His curiosity and eagerness to learn knew no bounds. There was never a challenge he couldn't overcome, a problem he couldn't solve with his sharp mind and quick wit. Dave's passion for music was unrivaled. He taught himself how to play the bass guitar as a teenager and dedicated countless hours to perfecting his art. Dave's talent was undeniable, and he shared it with the world as a member of the band "When the Zombies Come" for many years.

Dave's love for his family ran deep and true. He was a devoted partner to his soulmate, the Princess Chrissy. Their love was a beacon of light, unwavering through all the trials and tribulations life threw their way. Together they raised their son Jared with love, tenderness, and strength. Dave was a loving son to his mother, Helen Morgan Sims, and a caring sibling to his sisters and brother. His nieces and nephews held a special place in Dave's big heart.

Dave's courage and bravery knew no limits. He was a protector and defender of those in need, brave in the face of danger. During a robbery at a deli where he once worked, Dave calmly walked out from the back and defended himself and his co-workers with his bare hands. His heart was as big as his hands, and his love for animals was pure and boundless. Eevee, his furry companion, held a special place in his heart.

Dave was predeceased by his father, Daniel House; grandparents, Edward and Marianne Morgan; and aunt, Elaine Dutton. Dave is survived by his partner, Chrissy Yates; stepson, Jared Yates; his mother, Helen Morgan Sims; his siblings, Michelle Sims Long, Kenneth Sims, and Victoria Daykouk; nephews and nieces, Cason Rice, Natalie Rice, and Emmett Armstrong; aunts and uncles, Marianne “Missy” Morgan, Edward Morgan, Billie Jean (Tom) Fink, and Michael (Tammy) Morgan; and cousins Amanda (Troy) Morgan, Theresa (Theo) Jackson, Marie (Mark) Flores, Michael (Stephanie) Martinez, Kimberly (Will) Fink, Samantha (James) Fink, Mykayla Morgan, and Blaine Morgan.

Dave's family and friends will honor his memory on May 23rd, 2023, at the St. James Funeral Home located at 829 Middle Country Rd, St. James, NY 11780. The services will be held from 1 pm to 3 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm. Dave's passing leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of all who knew him. He will be missed, but his legacy of love, strength, and kindness will live on forever.
