Obituary for Calvin Mitchell Jr.

Calvin “Cal” Mitchell Jr. was born to Calvin and Zeolive Mitchell in Queen, New York on July 26, 1957. On January 3, 2022, he left this earthly life to join his heavenly father. Calvin expressed his love for the Lord at an early age and always clung to the scriptures and songs that he learned from his youth. He enjoyed singing “Here Am I Blessed”.

Calvin graduated from West Hempstead High School in 1975. While attending school, he was beloved and excelled in his studies and playing varsity basketball. He went on to graduate from SUNY Oneonta in 1979 where he majored in Business. Calvin remained in New York and worked for IBM until he retired.

Calvin was an avid golfer and fisherman. He found great pleasure in outdoor sports and enjoyed taking his sons fishing and skiing. Calvin had a passionate love affair with his New York sports teams and was willing to wager with anyone to defend their honor.

Calvin was a very hardworking, God fearing and family-oriented man. His family was his number one priority, and he took pride in protecting and providing for them. Calvin will be loved and missed dearly. He leaves to mourn his passing and celebrate wonderful memories: two beautiful children Cameron and Brandon (Samantha) Mitchell; one granddaughter Jade and one grandson Cash Mitchell; his loving parents Calvin Mitchell and Zeolive Mitchell; three devoted siblings Kerry Mitchell, Kathy Howard and Krista Wilson and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, family and friends.
