Anne Elizabeth Young, 81, of Sound Beach, NY passed away on Christmas day, 2023 with her daughter by her
side.
Anne “Mema” is survived by her loving and grateful daughter, Jennifer Young, her two grandsons, Chase,13,
Parker Jay, 6, and her cat Toby. She was the daughter of Edmund and Sara Hicks and younger sister of Mary
Jackson.
Anne was born on October 9, 1942. She grew up in Brooklyn, NY with her sister, Mary and her deaf parents.
She became the helper, care advocate to her deaf parents of Scottish decent throughout her parent’s
lifetime. She was a brilliant child, skipping grades to graduate early from school to become a New York City
grade school Teacher for many years. She moved to Long Island after marrying John Young and eventually
became a stay-at-home dedicated mother to Jennifer.
Anne was always a hard working person in every aspect of life, always giving and always selfless. She loved
every moment of her role in caring and nurturing her grandsons. She was a lover of animals and found joy in
her numerous amount of dogs and cats threw out her life. She will be sadly missed by all that have crossed
her path in life. She had a beautiful soul and a brilliant mind.
Friends and Family are invited to her memorial on Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 11-1am at LIC
