It's no secret that cremation is on the rise, especially here on Long Island. The sad reality is, that so is the price.  At Lic Cremation Service we are trying to curve that statistic, so we can help families without creating a financial burden. According to US Funerals Online https://www.us-funerals.com/funeral-guide/new-york/#.X8iBD9hKgdV a cremation can cost $2,500-$4,000 and might not include the crematory fee.   We also do traditional funerals and try to help with that cost as well, https://www.longislandpress.com/2019/11/05/why-funerals-cost-more-on-long-island/ . According to this Newsday article written in early 2020, https://www.newsday.com/business/funeral-prices-funeralocity-1.42300001 Funeralocity reported the average price of a direct cremation is $2,124 nation wide and $2,635 on long island.  That would be a savings of $1,635 with us. We try to keep everything as simple as we can. There is no mandatory refrigeration charge, no extra charge to remove a pacemaker (which has to be removed), no additional charge if a person passes away at a nursing home or hospice facility.
If a loved one passes away at home there is an additional charge because we have to bring another person with us to the home.
Lic Cremation Service started because I was seeing these prices slowly increase and I wanted to find a way to offer families something that was affordable, while maintaining the same high level of dignity and respect.  You never know someone's situation or struggles and while they are dealing with a loss (which could be the hardest time in their life) they should not have to worry how they would afford a high price funeral or cremation for their loved one.

People always ask the questions, Well How many death certificates do I need? What do I need them for? The average number people order is anywhere from 2-5. Of course if you find that you need more, you can always get more from the town hall. Death certificates come from the town where your loved one passed away. We do not make the certificate, we just simply fill in the statistics you provide to us. Here is a list that you will need a certified death certificate for. Life and health insurance companies Stock certificates, bonds, treasury bills, certificates of deposit and money market accounts 401ks, retirement plans, IRAs and pensions Military benefits Out of state bank accounts Rental storage companies Transfer of human remains Title transfer of ownership of real estate and all motor vehicles Burial and Funeral insurance Federal and state tax returns Scattering Ashes
